Hola Precious Girl,

You have been on my mind a lot lately. You always are, so nothing new, but last night I mentioned your name to my Dad, totally forgetting that he met you. And he started talking about what you did for him, and how much he appreciated it and is forever grateful to you and what a wonderful person you are.

How did I forget something so important, you are the most bossy, incredible human, and my family will never forget you and the difference you made to our life, because you cared and you were knowledgeable and … did I say bossy and insistent?? :)

It was because of you and your quick actions and your persuasive charm :) that my Dad is happy and healthy and with us today without any repercussions of his stroke.

About a year and a half ago, my Dad had an unexpected Stroke that caused Bells Palsy to the left of his face. He didn’t know he had, had a stroke and I was worried about him and you were there as usual and gave me your shoulder and your ear to listen to my woes, ( I miss your ears!! :) soooo much )

I told you about it and explained to you about his face.
I was worried and he didn’t want to go and see anyone or to go to the hospital and how stubborn he is.

You explained everything to me and told me what needed to be done and that he needed to get to the hospital fast and be put on steroids asap. That day I was needing a lift home, you had the Fortuner, and you overheard and said you would take me home, at the same time telling me you needed to talk to my Dad!!

I was a bit hesitant at how that would turn out, but it was risk your rath or my Dads…. And well……………………..I decided ….

Either way wouldn't be any better… :) and well, you know…. When you set your mind on something…You were hard to stop….
I think it is called.... “determination”... you had LOTS of that!! :)

You walked into the house and said to my Dad:
"Oom....you and i need to talk!!"

You explained to him the seriousness of his stroke and the reality that his face would never return to being normal again if he did not go to Hospital, and...with that...

(Now, I do not know why I didn’t think of that?… :) xxxx)

He left immediately and went to the hospital and got the treatment that was needed in the nick of time. Everything was done as you said it was, you were spot on and your quick actions meant my father is still with us today and he is well.

The reality could have been so different...

A stroke is a medical emergency and demands immediate medical attention. Emergency medical treatment can make all the difference in the world for someone who is having a stroke . . . it can be the difference between life and death . . . the difference between brain cells that are saved and brain cells that are damaged forever . . . the difference between recovery and lifelong impairment.

For each minute that brain cells are deprived of oxygen, brain damage increases and more of the brain is injured.

Medical research shows that when a stroke happens, brain cells in the area of the stroke set off a sort of chain reaction of chemical and electrical signals, possibly leading to secondary injury. This secondary injury can damage or even kill brain cells in a much larger area surrounding the original stroke. The faster a stroke is diagnosed, the faster treatment can occur, thus lowering the risk of permanent brain damage and disability.

However, nationwide only about 15% of stroke patients get to the hospital during the window of time where the most effective therapy can be delivered (within three to six hours of the onset of symptoms). In fact, most people wait anywhere from six to 24 hours after experiencing the first symptoms of a stroke before seeking medical care. This is too late!

Because of you, it wasn’t too late, my Dad was in the 15%, and I want to Thank-You from the bottom of my heart. Thank-you for insisting on taking me home and for taking the time to come to see my dad and for convincing him to get the treatment
he needed. Thank-you for caring enough about me to do that.

The Doctor said if he hadn't received the steroids and medication within 72 Hours the damage would have been Permanent.

My Dad remembers you and what you did by changing his mind that day and we are forever grateful.

How i wish you were still here, as you already know, our beloved Simba was taken too soon, but we know he is in Heaven and you are taking good care of him.

PS: Give him a love from me as i didn't get to say goodbye...

Keep Shining Bright up there.
