Remembering Corne...

This week we remember our special friend and colleague, Corne Ludick, our precious advocate who left us this week, a year ago.

She was not average – pretty much in any way, she was an inspiration, incredibly smart and talented, an awesome friend who I admired and respected and she had the incredible honour of being admitted as an advocate in the High Court through her hard work and dedication.

She was a very proud person with a massive heart and always went out of her way to help people, anyone who needed her, she was always willing to help and was loyal, understanding and forgiving.

She was a very brave girl who struggled everyday with an illness that devastated her life, but she put on a brave face and in spite of it, spent everyday trying her best to cope and live her life. She was a beautiful and passionate person who was extreme in every sence of the word.

Her struggle with her devastating illness and the side effects of the medication sometimes made her emotional and caused a lot of unhappiness for her, and this battle often affected the people closest to her, who felt it the most. She worked hard and gave of her best, always trying to present an image that everything was okay even though she was bravely fighting a devastating illness and everyday was a struggle.

I admired and respected the way she managed to face all the hurdles that life threw at her and she showed up and gave her best!

Every day was a challenge, only those closest to her knew the turmoil she endured and helplessly watched her with admiration as she carried on and lived her life, the best she could with what she was dealt. She achieved so much and so many people were proud of her and loved and cared for her. If only she was here to see the hole that was left behind.

As her friend, as someone who saw the eye of this storm, I've finally come to realize that while her life was far from perfect, she did the very best she could with the cards she was dealt.

The battles have been waged...

The war is over.... Rest in peace, Corne.

Rest in peace, Special Friend, you are loved so much.
